Artist Statement
As an artist, I am compelled to create art using the chosen medium of the art quilt.
I use a variety of surface design techniques including but not limited to: dyeing, painting, photo transfer, embellishment, printing, stamping, burning & discharge.
All my quilts are my own original concepts and the finished artwork is meant to hang on the wall like an oil or watercolor painting. There are three layers of fiber used. Machine or hand stitching on the surface of the quilt adds another design element of dimensional depth that paint alone cannot achieve.
I am interested in exploring the subconscious mind and concepts of memory and time. Mostly, I desire to create original artwork that my clients can possess and enjoy.
